Casa R.A.R.O. On-Site Projects

This facility encompasses over 300 square meters dedicated to artistic production, research, and dissemination, strategically located in the heart of Barcelona. This initiative complements our itinerant approach, which has defined our work over the past four years, and establishes a central hub where projects, residencies, exhibitions, and various artistic proposals converge within the R.A.R.O. Barcelona universe.

The space is organized into three primary sections: Production, Research, and Exhibition.

Production

Casa R.A.R.O. features a spacious artistic production area where local artists maintain permanent studio spaces. These artists shape the core community of the space, creating a warm, welcoming, and dynamic environment filled with continuous creative energy.

Additionally, the production facilities include studios designed to accommodate international artists participating in the R.A.R.O. Barcelona residency program. In these studios, international residents will have a dedicated space to work during their residencies, collaborate with local artists, present their projects and exchange ideas, techniques, and processes throughout their development.

At the conclusion of their residencies, artists will have the opportunity to showcase the results of their creative journeys to the local public in an Open Studio.

We recognize that exchange is a fundamental aspect of any residency. Casa R.A.R.O. actively facilitates these collaborative opportunities, allowing international artists to share creative spaces with local artists, thereby enriching their overall experience during their time in Barcelona.

Research

At Casa R.A.R.O., we actively promote research processes and contemporary artistic conceptualization. To support this, we have established a dedicated space where both local artists and international residents can develop their research, writing, and curatorial projects. This environment allows for direct collaboration with artists engaged in production projects, as well as the conceptualization of initiatives intended for implementation beyond the facilities of Casa R.A.R.O.

This new format opens the door for residencies focused exclusively on research for writers, curators, and individuals interested in exploration or stages preceding artistic production.

Exhibition

One of the exciting new features of Casa R.A.R.O. is its contemporary art gallery, dedicated to promoting emerging projects and showcasing the work of internationally established artists. The gallery's exhibition calendar is driven by open calls and curated invitations extended to selected artists, providing them with the opportunity to present their projects within our space. We encourage exhibitors to engage in meaningful dialogue with both the local and international contemporary art circuits and international contemporary art circuit.
